Through our proprietary technology platform we have brought Digital Publishing mainstream under the Kindmags brand. There is no need to change your existing production processes as our web based self publishing system can take uploaded PDFs and convert them into digital magazines, brochures, catalogues, digital newspapers, directories and eBooks. Once published, your digitial editions will be available in your own branded web reader and iPhone/iPad Application, which allow you to easily browse the contents, search, bookmark and access external web/email links. Unlike most providers we use the latest in open Web Standards rather than Adobe's proprietary Flash product. Your content just needs to be published once to be viewable anywhere including the fast growing tablet market. Want to take advantage of the interactivity of the web? No problem. You can use our suite of interactive widgets to bring your digital publications to life including Video, Audio, Animations, Dynamic Data Feeds (e.g. Twitter) to name a few. Like all of our technology all you need to worry about is producing great content, we take care of the technical setup process and ongoing hosting and maintenance whilst giving you real time access to make changes, view detailed statistics and reporting and publish new editions when ever you like through our self serve platform.

In association with our creative digital agency partner Anorak our task was to deliver a robust, scalable and powerful digital publishing platform to enable customers to simultaneously distribute their content to multiple devices. True to its name, the solution is kind on the planet by delivering content digitally, kind on our customer's time by integrating with existing print processes via our web based tools and best of all kind on their budgets by taking advantage of our distributed technology!

Project 1

In addition to our self-serve web tools, we also developed a browser based web reader accessible on all devices due to the use of cutting edge open web standards like HTML5 and a beautiful iOS reader for both the iPhone and iPad. The Kindmags platform is ideally suited to digital magazines, brochures, catalogues, newspapers, directories, ebooks and currently supports the following: PDF and PSD input, Active web links, Deep linking, Text search, Bookmarking, Share via email, Facebook, Twitter, Video, Audio, Animations, Dynamic data feeds e.g. Twitter, Push Notifications, Reporting and analytics. When One Media wanted a cost effective and easy way of digitally distributing their print titles they selected tke Kindmags publishing platform developed by Aptus Interactive. Through a web based self service tool publishing a title to one of their branded web readers or native applications is a straight forward addition to their existing processes:

Verify system generated links.
Set magazine description and contents.

Once published readers can view the content on the device of their choice, access external web links within the publication and share articles via Twitter, Facebook or Email. New editions can be published within minutes and do not require an update as the content is dynamically delivered from our servers.

#5 Magazine

Since launch (May ’09) with Rio Ferdinand as Editor-In-Chief and brand ambassador #5 Magazine, the world’s first digital lifestyle magazine has attracted a massive 273,075 visitors per month. When #5 wanted to move away from their flash based web reader platform they turned to the Kindmags platform developed by Aptus Interactive. As well as deploying our open standards based web reader our brief was to bring the magazine to life on iOS. Available in the #5 branded iPhone and Ipad app #5 uses many of the Kindmags interactive widgets including embedded audio, high quality full screen Video, animations and dynamic Twitter feed.
